About OathReady

OathReady is a free study tool that helps future Canadians prepare for the citizenship test with confidence. We built it because becoming a citizen is a milestone worth celebrating, not something that should sit behind a paywall. The study material comes from a free, public government guide, so charging people to practice it never sat right with us.

The app offers 574 practice questions across 7 topics, in multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank formats, and realistic mock tests in the exact format of the official test: 20 questions with a 75% pass mark. It also includes flashcards, a mistake bank that tracks exactly what you need to review, and progress analytics, all free, forever. Everything works in English and in French, including every practice question, so you can study in the language you'll take the test in.

Studying doesn't have to be lonely. If you like, you can start a private study circle with family or friends and pursue a shared goal together, challenge someone to a friendly duel, or opt in to pseudonymous leaderboards. These are always optional and designed to encourage, never to shame.

How our content is made

Every question and explanation is based on Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship, the official study guide published by the Government of Canada. We review answers against that guide and re-check the small number of time-sensitive questions (such as current officeholders) as things change. Our goal is accuracy first, so if you ever spot something that looks out of date, please tell us.

Practicing here does not guarantee any particular result on the official test. Always refer to the official Government of Canada resources for authoritative information about the test and the citizenship process.

How it stays free

The app stays free for everyone. Our running costs are covered by a few relevant, low-key recommendations for newcomers, never by locking away the questions or interrupting your practice.
